TRENTON Technology Introduces the MX8 Single
Board Computer Trenton's New MX8 SBC Features the Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor with HT Technology, Intel® 875P Chipset and the Intel® E6300ESB I/O Controller Hub, Serial ATA Support and a 533/800MHz System Bus. Atlanta, GA - TRENTON Technology Inc. announces its MX8 single board computer using the Intel® Pentium® 4 processor with HT Technology and featuring the Intel® 875P chipset with the new Intel® E6300ESB I/O Controller Hub (ICH). Trenton's MX8 combines these new Intel processor offerings to produce a level of processing, network communications and I/O functionality unheard of in embedded computing applications. The processor is produced using Intel's 90nm manufacturing process technology which enables greater processing efficiencies while enabling advanced capabilities such as Hyper-Threading, an 800MHz system bus and a 1MB on-die L2 cache memory. The E6300ESB I/O Controller Hub used on the MX8 supports many I/O features, including dual Serial ATA/150 ports and a 64-bit/66MHz PCI-X bus interface to the backplane. Additional MX8 product features include support for up to 2GB of DDR333/400 memory, both 533MHz and 800MHz system bus support, two 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet ports, 16MB of on-board DDR video memory, dual USB 2.0 ports and an Ultra160 SCSI interface. MX8 models without the SCSI interface are also available. The MX8 combines the outstanding capabilities of the Intel Pentium 4 processor, the 875P chipset and the E6300ESB ICH with Trenton's applied computing engineering design expertise to produce a single board computing platform designed to support robust embedded computing applications. "Trenton's MX8 SBC brings the latest Intel technology to the embedded computing community in the form of a platform that can handle a wide variety of complex processing, networking and I/O tasks," said Ton Steenman, general manager, Embedded Intel Architecture Division. "Including the Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor with HT Technology, the Intel® 875P Chipset and the Intel® E6300ESB I/O controller combination on their board enables Trenton Technology to offer a single board computer that can meet the demanding requirements of current and next generation embedded computing applications." On-Board Features Speeds for the MX8 are 2.4GHz and 2.8GHz for processors with a 533MHz system bus; speeds with an 800MHz system bus are 3.0GHz and above. The Intel 875P chipset features Intel® Performance Technology that increases overall system performance by providing a faster path between the processor cache memory and the DDR system memory while taking full advantage of the 800MHz system bus on the Intel Pentium 4 processor. The MX8's DDR333/400 memory interface supports up to 2GB of system memory and can operate in either single-channel or dual-channel mode. Dual-channel mode doubles the memory interface bandwidth. The MX8 provides two 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet LAN ports. LAN Port 1 is a direct-connect Gigabit Ethernet interface to the 875P using Intel's Communications Streaming Architecture (CSA). RJ-45 connectors located on the I/O bracket provide the physical interface to the Ethernet networks. Enhanced video processing on the MX8 is achieved using an ATI® MobilityTM RadonTM video memory controller connected directly to the 875P via the chipset's AGP 3.0 video interface using 4x data transfers. Video memory capacity is 16MB and supports pixel resolutions up to UXGA (1600 x 1200). In addition to the Serial ATA/150 interfaces and the PCI-X bus, the MX8 has many other features including dual EIDE Ultra ATA/100 interfaces, PCI/ISA bus interface support, hardware monitoring, two serial ports, an enhanced bi-directional parallel port interface, a watchdog timer and PS/2 mouse, keyboard and floppy drive interfaces.
